About Us
In 2021, YWCA Hartford Region was one of six non-profits selected by Hartford Foundation for Public Giving to participate in a Social Enterprise Accelerator. A social enterprise is a business whose profits are principally used to fund social programs.
We know that people want to use their purchasing power for social impact and community reinvestment. Purchasing from Persimmon Petals, our online flower shop, can help achieve that by supporting YWCA Hartford Region.
YWCA pursues its mission through advocacy, programs and services including:
- early learning and school-age childcare
- emergency and permanent supportive housing
- youth leadership development
- financial literacy education
- career pathways initiatives
- racial justice and gender equality
We promote change at a systemic level to improve the lives of individuals and families in our community.
We would like to thank the following generous donors who have provided funding to help our social enterprise blossom:
JoAnn and James Price | Brewster B. Perkins | Howard K. Hill Funeral Services | Diane Paige Blondet |
Kristen Weisensee | Key Bank | Stacy Smith Walsh | Judy L. Casperson |
Paula S. Gilberto | Margaret J. Strange Esq. | Filomena M. Soyster | Susan B. Dunn |
Adrienne W. Cochrane | Catherine Zeiner | Voices of Women of Color/ Janice Flemming-Butler | Alexa Pazniokas |
Priya Shari Morgentern | Robin Weir | Karol Jimenez |
Ultimately, our goal is to create skill development and entrepeneurial outlets for women who have been disporoportionately impacted in the workplace by a variety of economic factors. Thank you for your support and commitment to our mission!
